Dr Wee Tze Lin
Dr Wee Tze Lin is a Medical Director at Singapore Eye & Vision. He is a Senior Consultant Surgeon in Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmology and he subspecialises in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. He is also concurrently a part-time Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Refractive Surgery Service of the Singapore National Eye Centre.
Dr Wee graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1990. He obtained his Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Ophthalmology) in 1995. He completed his fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the Corneo Plastic Unit and Eye Bank of Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Trust, East Grinstead, United Kingdom in 1999.
Upon his return to Singapore, Dr Wee joined the Refractive Surgery Service of the Singapore National Eye Centre and was promoted to Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist of SNEC in 2006. In 2006, he was also admitted as a Fellow to the Academy of Medicine (Singapore). He is also a medical board president to the Medical Corp of the Singapore Armed Forces.
Dr Wee has been active in research in the field of refractive surgery and in particular LASIK. He has been a clinical investigator to several major global clinical trials including the Wavefront-guided LASIK and Aspheric LASIK trials, Acufocus Implant trial for presbyopia and most recently, the Personalized Aspheric LASIK trial.
He has also been active in the teaching of LASIK and has conducted numerous teaching courses and in-service programmes regionally and internationally. He is a certified trainer for Bausch & Lomb and also an Asia-Pacific Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (APSCRS) Certified Educator. He is also on the editorial board of Eye World Asia Pacific Edition.
Dr Wee was an active athlete in his school years at Raffles Institution and the National University of Singapore. He represented the Raffles family in soccer, swimming and badminton and also the NUS in rugby. He captained the badminton team of Raffles Junior College as well.
Married with two kids, Dr Wee enjoys time with his family and loves to cook in his spare time. Reading, travelling and wine appreciations are his favorite pastimes. Backpacking has brought Dr Wee in his younger days through Middle East, Egypt, Turkey, India, Nepal and Europe. |
